About to plan the lighting requirements with the builder today. I personally want light changing downlights, went to a local specialist but alas they were closed so I am after the collectives input.

The floor space is 21m(2) 3m wide by 7m long. The ceiling is 2.5m high.

I've found some kits on the net at circa 450 quid for 6 lights, controller etc but I am not sure that will be enough. The calculation with a 30 degree pattern would give a spread at floor level of 1.2 meters so two lights on the width would leave a drop off point either in the midle or edge of the room. Going 3 lights down either side would not provide enough spread so looks like 2 kits are required which is pushing the cost to 1 grand just for the lights = ouch. Rather do it right though.

The kit I have seen does not have a halogen bulb (this is the kit -> http://www.mr-resistor.co.uk/item.aspx?&g=15&a... The room is a cinema/studio so the lights will work great but how about if I just want normal white light?

Actually just as I've typed I'm thinking it might need 3 kits = 1500? If anyone can help/advise/point to a supplier I'd really appreciate it

I don't want to put a damper on your idea but those lights aren't very bright at all. I sell some 3 watt coloured
LEDs and they are only really any good for effect lighting in small areas, under shelf lighting for example. They are
nowhere near bright enough for your main light output in a room.

Also, although some RGB lights say they can produce
white light, they in fact produce that slightly blue tinge when trying to do white.
Before you spend any money go
and see the lights in person and remember the light has to illuminate from your ceiling to your floor don't be
fooled if someone shows the light appearing very bright if they light thier palm with it.

thanks, I have to say I am concerned about the small wattage and I think the kit I linked to is not the same as used in their demonstration videos for a large room. Luckily for me the lighting bug is local so will pop down tomorrow, regardless though I do want to have some mood effect lighting in there for both appearance and the photography

If you can advise on kit that would be great, might even be business your way wink

cheers!

I've actually been to a local specialist today and discussed my concerns and requirements. A 10x5w system looks more than adequate for what I am after and comes in at just under a grand for all controllers, remote etc
