I badly need a new carpet, but it's an unusual colour that nobody seems to be able to match. I don't want a different colour if I can possibly help it.

Short of spending days traipsing round every carpet shop in the county with a sample, only to be presented with things totally different, is there a better way? Can carpet colours be specified exactly by a 'paint code' rather than 'Caledonian Haze' etc which mean nothing?

Changing the colour changes completely the character of the room, so it's important and I'd like to find what I need by tomorrow. Any suggestions folks?

According to Allied Carpets, Ryalux www.ryalux.com will make me any colour I like and I only have to order 30m2. However they want a crazy £52.99/m2 for 50oz Ryatwist - double my budget.

If you can get to Suffolk Carpet Weavers in Ipswich they should be able to answer your question as they actually weave carpets and have access to plenty of detail. They have supplied all the carpet in our house.

Thanks, my carpet man is due in today so hopefully we'll solve it one way or another. I'd like to use him as he's a nice bloke and has worked hard on it, but then again I don't want to spend £1500 on the wrong colour...

Any luck John?

Our carpet is being fitted today, so happy to ask them if you want?

Ryalux won't give me a price (not even an RSP) and said they'd give me some retailer's names. However, they haven't.

I did however find just the right colour in Allied Carpets, and brought a sample back to show my carpet man. Unfortunately he says it's discontinued. Perhaps Allied Carpets bought the lot and have it in a warehouse. I will have to go back there for a quote. Just in case anybody reading has a carpet shop, it's from 'The Carpet Collection' (which I understand is Allied's own brand), the range is Windsor Twist and the colour is Excelsior Peach. Stock codes 952319 and 912856.

Perhaps 'CarpetHeads - Pile Matters' can fix it?!

Dropped my mate an email....

I'm guessing allied don't make their own carpet but specify a manufacturer to do it for them. Should be easy(ish) to track down who.

Cheers,
Phill

Thanks Phill smile

I think my carpet man has already trod that route but it's always good to try a different door.

I need enough for a 22' lounge/diner, hall, landing, WC and stairs.

John,

My mate has just come back to me... it's Ryaluxs Victoria and Albert ( V&A ) collection. King and/or Queen twist.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Phill
