Anybody know the oe source for the oilpressure sender unit low down on the ns of the block, is it a ford part? if so what does it fit? Mine starts off reading ok, but after 5 or 6 miles the gauge drops to zero. Its not the engine its been doing it for a while now and its even done track days like that! Alvis

Try http://www.deadpineapple.net/tvr then look in the 2009 diary and blog entry for 23-May-2009 might be of some use. Current ebay item number is 270402023690 but note that it is a 1/8NTP thread and the block has a 1/4NTP thread so you may need an adapter if there isn't one there already.

Note to self: must spell heck my website.

Definately Ford part and probably common to virtually all Ford engines of that era, maybe even many other makes ? Possibly still available from main dealers or good motor factors, must be hundreds in scrap yards if you don't mind second hand/getting hands dirty !
What makes you say that? The sender has to match the gauge being used in terms of resistance at x psi. Also most Fords of that era wouldn't have oil pressure senders anyway and if you did find one then it is as old as the faulty unit that you are replacing.
You aren't confusing oil pressure sender with oil pressure switch by any chance? Nearly all cars have oil pressure switches which would be a common Ford part.

Just to say that I ordered one of those sender units from Ebay that Jed gave the code for. Ordered Sunday night, arrived this morning.

Fitted it and now have a working gauge again. About 60 when driving and drops to 45-50 when stationary which is the same as it used to, I think, it's been about 5 months since it last worked!!

My old one is the same as the pic on Jeds website, so I already had the 1/8-1/4 adaptor.
