So there you have it.

At the end of Human history, through the millenia past, and the aeons yet to come - the final synthesis, the essence, the very soul of our species...at the ultimate conclusion, the final cut, our last gasp...will be a scene in which Gordon Brown is kicked in the face/nuked from orbit/bought an MX5 by Mclovin, told by Walt Disney that he's more Mickey Mouse than Mickey Mouse, and Salvador Dali finally finds someone who looks even more outlandish than one of his paintings.

Did you hear the bit where the voice over stated that the calculations could be wrong?!

Yet another scare non-story from the BBC.

A bit of debate about that in orders of 100's of millions of years, but essentially, yes.

There is also the chance that the less dense sun will cause the earth to move out in it's orbit......

We are concerned with events which are multiples of the time it has taken humans to evolve from slime. We won't be around to see it.... what is around to see it will probably beyond the wildest science fiction, whether more slime or other.

Scary stuff, but can't they stop it from happening if they just introduce some new punitive tax?

"Have you heard, it's in the stars...
Next July we collide with Mars

That's thought to be in about 5 billion years' time but if I'm wrong please accept my apologies in advance.

yes

The level of national debt would still be astronomical.
