Hi all,

I took my car for a good run up the motorway and dual carriage ways. After some heavy breaking, everytime I pressed the break pedal you could here a knocking noise, like driving over lines on the road when coming to a roundabout. I could also feel it through the steering wheel. After a while, I let the brakes cool down it had gone away. Anything I should be worried about or just hot breaks?

Thanks

Knocking noise?
May not be brakes.
When mine were worn there was vibration when I braked hard.
Are your discs worn? can you feel a lip on them? Mine lasted about 40k miles.

I can't feel a lip. They don't look worn. Any help people?

Sounds like you could have over-cooked the brake rotors and warped them. At a guess the discs will have about a 50k life and pads 30k.

Most tyre places will do a free brake check but make sure you don't replace them for the chocolate variety.

Knocking is sometimes play in a suspension component. Would'nt explain why it happended only when hot though.
If it doesnt come back, get the garage at service time to inspect your bushes etc for wear.
