My parents had some awful stuff! Avenger, Hillman Minx, Bedford CA camper, Polski Fiat estate!, Volvo 245, Datsun 160B!
Still get nightmares!!
Alternatively, if they had some really cool cars, tell us!!

Datsun 120Y Estate

Which actually wasn't that bad compared with something British of the same age - the Marina Van my Dad had at the same time, for example, was so atrocious it could only have come from BL.

My old man still has a Volvo 245 - I quite like it.

Other notible mentions were an Austin Maestro (Vandan Plas, so it was crap AND it could talk) and a Peugeot 505 GRD (non turbo diesel). The Pug was in about 1990 - I can't believe they got away with making them for so long.

... oh, and currently drives a Prius (company car) Now that is a stbox on wheels

Hillman Avenger, Chevette 1.3 L Saloon, 6 Escorts, 2 Rovers, 2 Fiestas and currently the first decent car they've had, a Mazda 2. Before I was born they had 2 ex-cop Cortinas (grandpa was a civil servant working for the police so got these quality cars cheap), 2 Triumph Heralds and another Avenger that died young.

I cant remeber my parents owning any rubbish cars tbh. They where both rally drivers in the 80's and loved cars.

I suppose on the scale of things, it was a mk3 gti 8v, not a particulary bad car but comsidering the rest where grale's, alpina's and M cars, it was the worst of the bunch.

Various old bangers but the highlight(lowlight) was the Red E-Reg 1.8 3cyl Ford Sierra we had from the auctions for £120 (spot the problem yet?)

Could hear it long before you could see it, sounded like heavy artillery, was so glad to see it dropped on the back of the scrappy wagon when it finally died smile

+1 on the Maxi. My dad had 3 of them; the one that sticks in my mind was in diarrhoea brown with those plastic seats that melted into your legs in summer............ On one trip I was car sick and it got into all the little plastic dimples. They could never get rid of the smell and eventually sold it becuase of this!!!!

Peugeot 505 2.5 diesel estate(with no turbo...) stupidly slow, sounded like a loud tractor, and broke down a hillarious amount of times

Mine seem to have done okay..

Dad, passed his test in '82? : 1970s banana yellow Renault 5 - 1983 Talbot Solara - 1987 Ford Escort Bravo 1.3 - 1990 Vauxhall Cavalier Saloon 1.8i - 1993 Citroen XM Estate 2.0i - 1995 LandRover Discovery S 2.5 300TDI - 1999 Audi A6 SE 1.8T - 2005 Audi A6 SE 2.4
only the banana Renalt was crap, and the Escort which he got brand new had some bad rust after 3yrs

Mum passed hers in I think '84, hers is very short: Immaculate 60s? Austin 1100 still with the plastic seat covers on - 1991 Peugeot 205 Style 1.1 - 1993 Mazda 323 LX 1.3i - 2008 Peugoet 308 SE 1.6 (she drove the Audi's ALOT)

On the rubbish front, in 1999, on the list before going for the 1.8T A6 was Volvo V70R, Renault Espace 2.0, Alfa Romeo 156 2.0TSpark, BMW 320i, Chrysler Grand Voyager 2.5TD. The year before we looked at the last of the E36 318is and god forbid (no idea why) the Peugeot 806, YUCK!

Generally my folks have had pretty good cars I like to think. A couple of stinkers have slipped through the net, like the MG Maestro, mk1 Vectra estate, and a frontera. As soon as I found out my old man once had a Lotus Carlton all was forgiven.

In Qatar we had a Hyundai S-coupe in white.

A few years later a Daewoo Espero in a nice grey colour.

In England we had a red Citroen BX premier or premium (something along those lines) which although not the best car ever, infact I hated it at the time, I love now and for some reason really want one confused
