Claremont Open Day
Discussion
I plan on going but I'm from a different neck of the woods from most of you guys, I 'll be coming down the A2 (s*dding 50 mph cameras most of the way). See some of you there.
Don't know if there's anything better to do that day (I think it's a Monday) Pub sounds like a good idea though.
I'll take a million quid with me in case I need a set of brake pads...

TF has always been helpful to me even though I've not spent my life savings at his gaff. TF and his ilk will likely play an increasing role in the life of C5 owners as NAV pack their bags and head for Le Continent.
Could well be over there Dec 29th as "goodwill to all men" in my happy domestic scene might just have expired by then!

5usa - I agree; Tom - and Claremont - have always been very helpful; last week, they found a new battery for my Cadillac, which - and here's GM for you - I couldn't get from the original dealer that sold it new in 1999... BM in Manchester had them, but couldn't freight them, and their battery was £30 dearer...
I'm sure he is .. and nothing wrong with that either but they are hugely more expensive compared to the rest of the prices you find and I just wonder who buys them given that Corvettes are a lot more widely available than they used to be. He would surely make the same profit by selling more cars at more competitive prices?

Yes, but he would have to reach a certain, and certainly higher, sales figure, than if the product was more expensive, to make a profit. Breakeven analysis and all that.
Tom helped me a huge amount by putting me in touch with the guy in the US I used to bring in Velveteen and also the Z06.
Regarding batteries, try OCW in London they are the official AC Delco suppliers for the UK and they shipped me a battery for Velveteen overnight. It was the correct original AC Delco one as originally fitted. All in including shipping it was about £100 earlier this year. They also supplied the correct hand brake cable and can basically do any AC Delco bits for a Corvette in my experience.

We've always found TF helpful. As regards battery we always get our GM parts from Bauers, John in parts is really good and can source most things very quickly (including a crate LT1 earlier in the year for my green 1994 which Green Flag managed to wreck) Actually I don't seem to have much luck with LT1's since I had a wrecked one in my Camaro that was also not my fault, such is life! We needed a new battery for the pace car yesterday, Bauers couldn't transport however American Carriage Co in Kingston had one in stock and fitted it!
