European Breakdown Cover - 15yr old Caterham

Any tips on some reasonably priced European breakdown cover (for Le Mans)? - its always problematic on older cars, my Caterham being 15 this year.

Who are you insured with ?? as most of the specialist insurers offer UK & european breakdown cover with the policy.

Don't know when your car insurance runs out, but Carole Nash throw in this kind of cover with their classic car policies.

May not be applicable for you this time - but it's worth considering when you're due to renew.

Insurance isn't due until March. I'm with Towergate. They have not been able to offer anything reasonable largely because I only want single trip cover.

I'm with Flux on the cob and its £300 per annum for 5K miles plus UK and european breakdown, includes 30 days european cover.
Backford Bloor are another offering the same sort of deal and they have a good reputation.
Isnt it worth joining the RAC as they cover the driver not the car so you dont get stung for having an 'older' car.

Got my 23 year old TVR covered with the AA for £50.

Should have been £64, but a 'special deal' was done if I booked them there and then .

Not bad really considering the reliability stigma attached to this brand and the fact that it is ancient.

It includes courtesy car/hotel/recovery back home, all the usual stuff if she terminally dies on-route

Look at the AA they are quite good. You will have to take a years cover but if you run a 15 year old Cateram you might need it any case in the uk before and after Le Mans. Hope you have a good trip there and back.

RAC exclude cars over 11 years old from their standard European cover and will quote specifically per vehicle if it's older.

direct line cheapish for single trip and do cars to 17 years old.
My porker is more than that and I got AA quote, not too bad at about a tenner a day for the trip.

I'm with "Spectrum" Full Euro cover and UK with Home start for 12 months on my 15 year old GT4. This comapny was recommended to me through my insurance, but it was mentioned that it was not a better offer because i was insured with them, but just a general open to all £49.99

Check with your ferry company, they offer short term cover based on the days abroad. Eurotunnel link:

Their "Annual cover" has a 15 year old limit but the short term cover doesn't

The Vette was covered with RAC for this year and cost £65 (it's 31 years old) for 6 days. I've managed to extend this by 3 months since I had to cancel Le Mans so I can still use it for a trip abroad this year.
