How about trying one of these instead of the usual cutting opening of silencer and modding. It would give you two exhaust options. What is the diameter of a Griff exhaust? This guy will do a discount if ten or more are ordered. They are £229 which seems quite good value, isnt that what you pay to mod you existing exhaust?.

As its reccomended to be installed before the cat, your going to have trouble fitting that in a chim and griff with the dustbin cat in the Y piece....

My mates fitting 2 of these to his monster Jensen Interceptor as though its not loud enough already!.
If been thinking of fitting 1 after a decat y piece.
At least then i could compete with the noise levels of other drag racers.

I find my 50% sleeved box and precats removed provides a nice note that can be lived with on a jouney and doesnt upset the neighbours (too much).
I like the idea that at the flick of a switch you can make the car as loud as you like.
Imagine the fun at the next traffic light grand prix!

pre-cat mate.
Considering the actual diameter of the pipe work around the main cat,and the pre cat area of the standard manifolds, this will not fit anywhere before the downpipe and underneath section of the exhaust..... mate

Hi Graham, i think most have a mechanical valve rather than a fancy electric one. They can be operated via a cable.
Also many V8 rods have systems that have a junction on each header that is capped. Remove the caps for open headers yikesevilbow

Indeed I did

Good fun but does not give the sort of noise I was hoping for, so would not chose to do this again

Sounds a little agricultural for my liking. Prefer the sound of a sleeved exhaust and do miss the crackle I used to get from mine

Chose to fit one of these as I wanted the quieter pipe for track use but have the option for loud as and when

Mine is electrical and only just fits in front of the sump. Exhaust is a pig to get on and off though be warned

Happy to show it off at the Growl for those thinkng of taking the plunge

Cheers

I tell you what Andy, it's never been as loud on my car as it was on yours. I've even passed every noise test at sprints / hillclimbs / trackdays without additional silencers!

Yeah, seems some people are very touchy, this site is full of people like that. Let us know how you get on with the conversion once its fitted, I assume you could fit a small silencer to the side exiting the exhaust, perhaps this would get rid of the "agricultural" sound?
