More bad news....
Have just been reading the german papers this morning, and the mother company of Thomas Cook, Arcandor, has been refused government and EU help and expect to run out of cash within a week. It's in the news here because their department store chains Quelle and Karstadt are expecting severe cuts if not closure.
Hopefully anyone booked with Thomas Cook can react quickly and secure any payments/holidays/flights. They're talking about 50000 jobs in the whole group that are at risk.

Thomas Cook claim they are totally ring fenced from the parent company - Arcandor. Maybe or maybe not. Who knows? Companies in the present recession are not renowned for the truth!

Would have thought ATOL would honour any bookings anyways.

No, Thomson is owned by TUI. Thomas Cook also incorporates MyTravel & Airtours etc.
