Not good but there is always a solution to these things.
I'd go for the above idea of grabbing a last minute shed. As long as you have the little green slip from the previous owner's V5 you should be ok. As long as it has MOT and is properly insured, job's a good un!
Makes it a bit more fun going in a shed, I did it last year and didn't make it back (aux belt busted, we left the car in a service station) but it was a good laugh and funny stories for years to come.
Great idea about the orange and blue Dulux too, it's a perfect excuse surely?!

If you go to your local DVLA office they can give you a Temporary Certificate of Registration if you have the little green V5C/2 and it will cost £3. I know because I got one yesterday as the DVLA in Swansea managed to send my V5 to a completely different address....didn't have to pay the £3 though as it was their cock up! t.Can't buy anything new really as the V5 wont come through in time
Guys we are doing a £500 challenge this year, and i will say its been a bit stressful getting the little Pug 205 CTI ready, but its all coming together now. It has just passed its 2nd MOT last week, and everything is looking good apart from a slight starting problem (we will bump start it if it needs it)

It's true, I've managed to buy old nails for myself and others which have never been any bother at all, for around £2-300. My current Polo snotter cost me that much with 11 months ticket, and only need £20 of parts to get through the latest MOT. It's easily doable! Gumtree is a good shout too, lots of poor student types who aren't willing to pay ebay commission.
