Yes, what on earth are you doing even considering that German slush mobile? Not exactly a drivers car is it!

hmm, that is a bit much. SOrt of wiped out the savings?

LHD is no problem on our roads, given half a brain! the insurers obviously see LHD as dangerous, so price accordingly. My Smart is lhd, and has 1/3 the power of your TT. But the insurance is about 300 quid. Which actually I think is a bit steep....

Sorry, can't really help, apart from the usual "try every company" approach. BTW, a lot of the firms that insure Yank Tanks and classics will cover you for less, I would imagine.

try limited mileage policies. I have been quoted less than £500 for a Caterham on 5000 miles per year.
also try specialist insurance companies not the usual suspect like direct line. It might be a case of having a look in EVO or trying some sportscar dealers and asking who they recommend. They are cheap policies out there its a case of hunting and not giving up.....and are you really considering a TT over an Elise?

i took my works colleges Opel VX220 for a drive (with him in it) which made me see that i NEED a lotus elise!

Try AMEX, they were the cheapest by far for a colleagues LHD Audi. He paid about £1100 for an a6 Offroader in central London.......

Yeah, and he is pleased with it, i think that the opel model sounds better when having a conversation, i.e.

BLOKE A "I HAVE A OPEL SPEEDSTER"

BLOKE B "OOOOHHHHHH!!!"

COMPARED TO:

BLOKE A "I HAVE A VAX...[inturuption from bloke b]"

BLOKE B "hhhaahhh ahahaahaha hahaha a

i think you lot get the picture!...

I don't want to start yet another debate on the TT, but one tried to follow me while I was driving the Elise through a country lane. I took a corner quickly, looked behind only to see it lurching & understeering toward the hedgerow. That's all I have to say on the subject...

Isn't there some euro-law which has prohibited loading insurance for lhd cars, on the basis that it's unfair?

If so, might be worth getting quotes for lhd then rhd and challenging the broker.

Agree about TTs though - not even a real quattro is it.

Oi!!

Leavy My TT alone!!

IF you're going to get one, at least stick with the 225 - much more tunable..

As for the rest of you goons, words fail me.. (Diplomatic ones anyway)

After watching that program on BBC2 2nite there seems to be quite a market for prestigous LHD cars,Even though unfare this is probably why the hick the Ins prices up,as is the same for most sportsbikes the market for stolen Fairings etc is unbelievable because the Honda etc change so bloody much for new ones theres amarket for used ones(ie stolen).
Vicous circle and who pays u and me.
