assuming you have an service provider to put a 3 Mbps broadband pipe into your estate then it should just a matter of intstalling a few (2-3) appropriately positioned wireless access points through out your estate to give you the coverage you need. The access points are realtively cheap - Linksys and Rockwell do them, as I am sure others do, for approx £100 each.

If you live in a rural area then your biggest expense/ problem will be getting the 3 mbs pipe into you property from your local telephone exchange- however a number of broadband service providers who specialise in this are springing up all the time - MyZones and Bulldog are two that I've come across.

Planning software is pricey. The traditional method is to (a) get existing wireless kit turned off, or at worst audit what's there so you know what channels you must avoid (b) scatter your access points around the place (c) pace around with a laptop, wireless card, and its signal meter, looking for deadspots. Learn from it, go to (b) with some foreknowledge.

Remember that adjacent APs need to be at least 3 channels seperate from each other to stop 'em interfering with each other.
