Hope the lovely mods will leave this for a while as it's such a long shot, but we had to cancel our wedding there due to job loss and fund shortage.

As a result, I have paid £1500 deposit which is non refundable, but valid against costs if we choose to marry there in the future.

So, if anyone is planning toget hitched there and wants £1500 towards the cost for an outlay of £600, PM me and it's yours.

Mods: I realise this isn't the correct avenue for a sale item, but hope this may bring it to a wider audience, if you do remove it I understand, agree, and apologize.

They won't let different people get married from your deposit.

Why not save it for yourselves when you DO get married?

I assume you have thought of this but have you approached them to see if the money can be put against eg as large group dinner?

Then organise one and sell the places making a chunk of your money back?

I bet they do a function 3 course dinner for 30 quid a head. 50 places sold and job done.

Either arrange a forum dinner or get all your joint friends together & see if they'd be willing to pay towards a summer party for you all. Be honest, explain your predicament.

If you take the hit on a dj or something, that'd prob cost about 350quid so you're getting back £1150 maybe even all your money.

Be easy to arrange on forum. PLUS, you sell the benefit to the hotel of people buying drinks so they get more revenue that way too. M<ight push them to go for it.

Good luck and sorry about your job/wedding.

I think in your position I'd be tempted to "bank" it at Coombe, and wait to see if your finances change, a new job comes along.

They started the idea of Medievil Banguets there. We went about a year ago and it was 1st class and very entertaining

I'm sure as the above poster says the would redirect the money there as a gesture of goodwill. They can't be doing that well out of the crunch and you won't have been the first, so someone may have set a precedent. Go see them in person...much better than the phone. Then you can get some money out of your mates for every seat they want.

The whole place is a fabulous setup.

PS Sorry about the wedding but fate is a keen player at times...
