Help!

After being made redundant on Monday, I need to rather urgently clear off data from my company laptop before returning it.

There is around 20gB of data to copy, and rather than burning endless CD's, I'd like to connect the laptop to my home PC, and copy the files that way.

I have a router (Linksys thing) for sharing the internet between my home PC, and my company laptop. Can I use this to connect the two PCs together for transferring data?

When I click on "Entire Microsoft Network" on either machine when they are both plugged in to the router, I can see the name of the other PC (If that makes sense) but if I click on the "Other" PC, I don't get any further.

Any (quick) help gratefully recieved!

Meeja

PS Both PCs are running Win 2000 SP4

To access a folder from another PC on your little network you will have to 'share' a folder or 2. create an empty folder on your PC right click it and you should see 'sharing...' on the popup menu ... this should allow you to see the shared folder from the laptop and drag and drop your files into it.

you may need to set up the laptop as a user on the PC .. 'Users and Passwords' in the Control Panel.

Hope this helps
