Anyone from Mansfield/Chesterfield?

Went for a drive today and whilst driving on the A60 (I think?) between Mansfield and Chesterfield I drove past a row of a few dozen terrace type houses, some of which looked occupied but many of which had all the doors and windows steel-plated.

Rough area or are they condemned or what exactly?
