Morning all.
Having split up with my wife on Friday, I wish to spend some of my spare time getting back into some of the things I used to do. One of which is rock climbing. I used to do a fair bit of it with cadets/scouts and at school. However, it has been some time since I actually did any, and I would be rusty as hell to say the least. So, can anyone suggest a good indoor climbing centre near Daventry or Banbury, as I can't find much via Google? It can't be too far away, as I'm now down to just having a bike engined 7 as my only car, and since it has no heater or windscreen, driving miles after a session could be a PITA.

Not sure how I managed to do it, but I managed to miss my old school, which it would appear is home to the Banbury club. Cheers for the link!

Mmm, actually, I would need all my own gear to climb there. Oh well, the search goes on.

It's something I want to take up as a hobby/pastime again, so driving to Liverpool isn't really a good idea. wink

When you've made a few new climbing mates, you could organise a weekend away

Awesome Walls comes very highly recommended from me too, both in Liverpool and Stockport. I've no idea about down south though, sorry.

If you've got the money (£100-£200) why not buy all your own stuff? I got shoes, harness, chalk, chalk bag, etc., basically everything, from Snow and Rock for about £120 and it has paid for itself by now, with all the money I save on hiring from a club.

Just something to think about.

ETA - Nice car and commiserations about the relationship.

Is Xscape in MK too far? you have too book in advance and walls are a bit limited, but it might be worth going there to get back into it while you find somewhere a little better.

Can you book beginner/refresher courses there? Or is it more turn up and you're left to it?

I take it you know of another Banbury or Daventry? The ones I mean are on the Northants/Oxon border!

Oxford Brookes Uni has a wall which I use occasionally. It's open to the public - about 5 pounds entry. And a cheap student bar when you have your post climb drink!

I believe you can, but it's been a long time since I've been there. You could always give them a call and find out 01908 237748
