All,

As I've just joined, I had an enjoyable read thru the latest posts. Interesting article on the C6, and in particular Bob Lutz's "idle thought":

"I wondered idly to myself what the European motoring press is going to come up with as excuses of why they still didn't think it was the best, because it's going to outperform everything."

So, I wonder just how our press will react? I do hope they get a decent Z51 6-speed manual instead of a mushy auto box...

I never expect much from Mr Clarkson, but let's see...

I'm sure that the Euro C6 will be fully featured and quite cool. How much more cool that my one (50th) I don't know. The thing is that I will be the only one in my village to know that I've upgraded (if I do) as to the average local-yokel, the C5 and the C6 will be too similar to tell apart. The big question is though: Vette C6 or Ford GT...

Logically, the Ford GT should be technically and objectively better than the C6 Vette (Z06). There's a price differential of $100k in USA. But then the Vette has always managed to be technically superior for a bargain price.

Given that Clarkson has put his name down for a Ford GT, I wouldn't worry too much about the Vette's reception ashe seems to be leaning more towards actually being objective.

If the Vette is as good as Lutz thinks it is, it has nothing to fear from Clarkson and remember, these days Clarkson often has to temper his criticism or eat his words after The Stig has proved him wrong. Remember the Boxster stuffing the S2000. However, as you say, let's hope GM furnish a manual car with suspension that isn't solid.

Unfortunately they probably won't, I can just see history repeating itself.
I really hope NAO in Liverpool has had a change of staff from the last very interesting bunch they had! They need someone that is interested in cars to head up the sales team this time!!!
