Well, bit of background

I was in the UK for a bit for work/holiday and met a girl. She has since come out to aust on a working holiday visa. This gives her a year out here

We are living together and need to plan the next step.

How the hell do I tell her I like her, but not enough to spend 2.2k on a defacto partner visa?

Serious second thoughts about what I've done here. She's sold up her whole life to be here and now I'm wanting to get out.

Sigh.

Tell her the night before her visa runs out that 'its not working out and that you think you should go your seperate ways'.

Yeah, but the problem is deep down (and I know this will come as a shock) I'm actually a decent guy.

Whilst I appreciate your dilemma, I can't but think of the poor girl.

She packed up everything and moved to Oz to be with you, and now you want out?

That's a kick in the teeth if ever there was one. She is going to be absolutely shattered.

I can only imagine how emotionally damaged and vulnerable this is going to leave her.

Got a number, and some pics? Ta.

How far into the 12 month visa is she currently at?

You could always tell her that overstaying is not such a big issue, go on a holiday to Bali, and they will not let her back into the country.... smile

bwastard. That's the thing. I like her, but I don't love her. And I know she feels much more strongly about me. I just don't see me settling down with her I guess. We are different just different types of people I guess.

Ohhhh dear.

Poor lass.

But you can't spend your life with her if you don't love her.

This is going to be exceptionally difficult but you are going to have to tell her.

The visa, should she want to stay in Australia, is not your problem.

How did it take you till now to figure that out?

how long have you been together?

Have you actually lived together before her move to you?

Whos idea was the move?

Could it just be commitment issues (normal blokey thing) or have you really thought about it?

Gosh. What a situation.

At the end of the day, you have to do what is right for you.

You don't love her so it's wrong to lead her on any further.

You need to grow a pair and be straight with her.

If you want to borrow my body armour, I'll send it by courier ASAP.

What are you going to use then if you give away your only protection?

Creeping realistation. I think we got into it too quickly basically.

Around 10 months

No

Hers.

And I don't know. It's just, well, I'm really career driven, and enjoy the challenges of work. She's smart, has her MA, but has no drive, no real desire to work her way up and is happy just plodding along doing the bare minimum. And this is impacting on other things as well. Maybe I'll just start working weekends as well and she'll get the hint.

Oh, and she refuses to learn to drive. Which is starting to really get on my tits.
