Depends on whether you want the front of your house to look pikey or not.

Or is it more likely to be the case that, by displaying the sign, you have demomstrated awareness of a threat posed by the dog ?

And in such circumstances, might it be more likely that prosecution would follow if the dog then did go ahead and bite someone ?

How about if you put a sign up saying 'Warning Mentalist'.

Can you then just say you are mentally unstable when you go berserk at a burglar or your neighbours ?.

If it has sharp teeth then YES!

Also, if the 'beware of the dog' sign has sharp edges, you need a 'beware of the dog sign' sign.

2nd sign needs blunted edges to be safe!

In cases of personal injury no sign protects you from anything.

Indeed. In any case, the sign should read "Be Aware of the Dog" to pass the 'ownership' of the hazard onto the person knocking on the door, I believe.

I like this one - but it does only tend to deter classically trained burglars -

Awesome link for those wanting an ancient dog's name.

Where did you get that pic Eric? Is it of a specific dog? Is it medieval? Looks Bayeux tappestry-esque?

Thought it was cerberus for a moment till I remembered he had lots of heads.
