Xbox 360 red light

just turned on my xbox 360 and the bottom right light is flashing red and an error message is coming up on the screen telling me to contact microsoft

i am ondering has anybody else had the same problem

can it be fixed ??
or is it f####d ??

if ur desperate n ur xbox is outta warranty u cud always try the towel trick but i wud only do tht as a last resort
