The Human Body!
Very informative!

1)It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.

2)One human hair can support 3kg (6.6 lb).

3)The average man's penis is three times the length of his thumb.

4)Human thighbones are stronger than concrete.

5)A woman's heart beats faster than a man's.

6)There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.

7)Women blink twice as often as men.

8)The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain.

9)Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still.

10)If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.

11)Women reading this will be finished now.

12)Men are still busy checking their thumbs. roflrofl

Doubt that - oil is not soluble in water (ie saliva) but you can certainly taste it.

This 'average man' is pretty lucky in the codpiece if my thumbs are anything to go by. Luckier than I am anyway. My thumbs must be wrong.

His thumb. Not yours.

Unless you are a he. In which case I congratulate your braveness.

But saliva is not just water....it also contains lots of enzymes which help start breaking down food as soon as it enters your mouth.

As for fact 10.....am sure it's true. Plus if you couldn't smell, you also would not be able to taste anything....hence why when you have a bad cold, you tend to go off your food (if only I had that problem at the mo hehe )

There's salivary amylase, which breaks down starch to sugar. But enzymatic action is not 'dissolving'.

In the interests of science and education, I will happily submit to you my own thumb and anything else required to verify this assertion, for inspection. I think you'll find everything in order.

Nope, my Dad hasn't had a sense of smell for 30+ years now but his sense of taste hasn't been diminished at all.

Good enough to explain it to laymen though.
