No, not a derogatory term!

I don't have one, so need one for occasional use. Someone from mazdaontrack who tracks his car regularly has reccomended an open face one, full BS spec, from Demon Tweaks at a good price.

Hadn't thought of an open face one, but it's much cheaper and seems to be pukka quality. So unless anyone can suggest anything sensibly priced as an alternative, and maybe suggest somewhere local to buy, I'll go for this one.

Any thoughts/suggestions? I'm only an occasional track day attendee and I won't mind too much if they make me put the roof on because of the open face on the helmet.

TIA

Lee

I'ld personally go for open face, think I vagley remember having a discussion on anther forum which aload of the MOT members use.
Not like you havent got a windscreen infront of you, as then I'ld deffinatly say closed face.

But sorry can't actually recommend anywhere, apparently its easier/cheaper to go to a raceday and then bag a deal with a wedge of cash.

Yeah, and I should be able to wear shades under it too apparently.

I'll need it for the Bovington thing on the 7th, and they won't have helmets there so it's DT via the net.

Pretty sure Peter has sold it already, and of course it depends on the size. I'll drop him a text.

Enjoy work; damned sun has gone in now, so gardening has lost it's appeal, but not its urgency... frown

If you only need MSA Approved this ones ranked fairly high. Plus I dont think any other will touch it on price.

That's the one I'm looking at.

Someone has just recommended a full face MSA approved one at about £140, which I will also have a look at.

the one i was on about earlier Lee:

V2 Sport Snell SA2005 Car Helmet £139
got one myself and it's much more comfortable, lighter and cheaper than the previous one i bought and sold on (Bell something something from USA ebay). SA2005 standard so you should be accepted on almost all trackdays (MSA or not).
didn't think about it once i got on track at Odiham

Not sure; I'm hunting out a tape measure.

That looks a good buy Peter, thanks. I guess I'll go for the one with the chin skirt though, as I'll be hoping to have the lid off.

But I'm more topless than you! Anyway, it would work if I manage to snatch a ride in a Caterfield or summat...

I just bought a motorcycle helmet for the occassional trackdays I did in the Clio. That way, I could still use it to ride pillion on friends' motorcycles too.

Hobzy, I'm (and I find this hard to admit).....XS. Gulp.

I think that I'm opting for the full face one that Peter suggested.

How much is a bike lid, and is it god for MSA run tracks?

It wasn't alot of money, as I didn't want a real pricey lid sitting in the cupboard for most of the year. Not sure if it's MSA approved, but it has the usual m/cycle approval stickers on the back. Can't remember the make (think it's an ARV).
