Right, I have posted her a bit recently about my break up of my relationship. The next stage in my dilemm is my beautiful little cat, Jersey. She is 14 and my little angel. Currently she is the the flat with my ex, not getting much attention but does get a beautiful big garden to play in.

If she come to me she will be much loved hugged all the time but with limited access to a small yard (near a busy road at rush hour).

What do i do. I miss her so much but hate the fact she will not have a garden any more?

HELP!

EDIT: OOPS, JUST NOTICED THE TYPO IN THE TITLE!

is this an excuse to contact the EX?

Also, this could get petty, he may not want to give it back!

Get a new Cat, with many more years left smile

Sorry, I should have been more clear. He doesn't really want her but is prepared to give her food etc.

With me she would be loved and pampered. It is my cat really, not his.

at 14, she must be getting to the point where the garden is a nice idea but requires far too much effort for little reward. cat logic dictates the sofa is the best place to stay. you can always take her out for walks.

on the other hand, an old cat that goes outdoors a lot = recipe for huge vet bills for your ex. this might mean he gets rid of her to the local animal shelter.

your call. i had to leave my cat behind after a breakup and i do miss the furry little bugger.

Take her back, even without a garden she is better off being living with you and being wanted and fussed over.

Take her back much better to be in a loved home, cats will always find somewhere to play and you can never protect them completley from the roads!

Agreed, ours is about 15 and seems pretty content sitting about doing nothing most of the time, usually indoors.

As long as she does have access to the outdoors (even if only a yard) I don't see the issue. Sounds like the cat's had a decent enough life so far anyway.

Ask for the cat back, its yours.

The longer it goes on the longer you will be tied to him.

Get a friend or parent to go and rescue the cat, and give it what it wants for the rest of its life!

Agree with all the other posters, get your cat back. OK, so the yard is limited in size, and there's certainly danger from the road, but some attention for the cat (and company for you) can only be a good thing.

I'm sorry, but I had an image of you meowing and then all of these weird cat-like people crawling up from the swewers and backstreets when I read the title smilehehe

Hope you get your cat back! smile

I ended up getting a mate to look after my 11 year old Siamese... simply because 'soon-to-be-ex' wasn't fussed.
Cat has gone from house and garden to flat and no garden but I get to see him and he gets love and attention...he's happy.
and I'll take him back when I get my own place... not ideal. But better than the alternative.

In summary: get your cat

Agreed.

At 14 the roaming and hunting days are more likely to be what she dreams of for 22 hours of the day.. Affection will be more important.

hey custard

somehow i'm not surprised, have had a lot of mail 'undelivered' from work recently. it'll turn up when they feel like going to the post office i guess! recently single and cat-less, an afternoon crafting a papier mache penis is just what you need! smile

My cat is 15, she doesn't venture out much these days, to the extent that I've had to recomission the litter tray or deal with poop on the living room carpet behind one of the speakers every day.

Get your cat.

Take your cat back home with you, the only way you'll know if she settles is to try. My 14 year old only goes out for 10 mins at a time a couple of times a day, he is very playful but enjoys his home comforts too much smile (not too toilet, he saves that for the litter tray!) I couldn't leave him behaind and I don't think you can either.

In my opinion there is only one answer, she should be with you.

Nothing wrong with keeping an old moggie in the house....

Mine doesn't even want to go out now, just eats, sleeps and craps...
