To be fair the Carrera GT is the best sounding road car Porsche have ever built. If we include racing cars then things get a little more interesting, 917 flat 12 or the F1 engine maybe?

Err that isn't a Porsche! Also I don't think the Cosworth v12 in that car sounds as interesting as the V10 in the GT.

Right, let me get this straight. You're posting on a "best sounding porsche" thead to tell us you think porsches sound dull.

Read that back to yourself a few times (out loud if you like) and then ask yourself why we should care.

eh? Porsche have made flat 12s, flat 6s, inline 4s, flat 4s, a flat 8, V8s a V10 and two V6s. In addition to that they've made normally aspirated engines and turbocharged engines and water cooled and air cooled engines. Once you add to that the huge variety of induction and exhaust systems and design specs you've probably got the most varied engine manufacturer ever. I challenge you to think of a manufacturer who has produced a more varied engine line up in any branch of automotive engineering smile

VW "group" :-P

Everything from a 3 cylinder diesel, through the 4's 5's, 6's V 8's W8's, V10's (petrol and diesel) W12's and W16's.

N/A, turbo, twin turbo and compound charged... and this is just their current line up!

The whole group? Is that cheating? smile Still though, that's 9 varieties of engines against 8 I counted for Porsche alone, and look at how small Porsche are as a company! Plus Porsche have done air cooled and water cooled, which is in theory a completely different engine. And you've really gotta count the full race engines as seperate from the road engines, so I think Porsche still have it smile
