I've recently moved, and need my NI number for work etc
As I don't have access to my documents at the moment, and my card was lost several years ago, I need the number sent out to me.
I tried at various times last week to call them, no answer, just telling me they are experiencing problems. I got through this morning, and they told me to make an appointment with the local Job Centre Plus. I called them, and they told me they have no facility to give out the number.
I try to call back...experiencing problems with the line.

Good job people. Very good.

Me too.

Perhaps you'd be better off phoning HMRC?

Call your last employer - they'll have it on record.

Shouldn't your pay slip have it on, or your payrole people at work will know.

P60s, P45s, payslips or tax returns will all show the NI number. As already mentioned, your employer will have this on their system too.

Maybe it's just some jobcentres that can't do it...I went to my local jobcentre plus, they sat me down straight away, a few pieces of ID and they gave me my NI number there and then.

Oh come on ffs, how hard can it be - must be on like every bit of paperwork you've had from an employer, tax office, benefit office in your life ever..shirley?

Is this a trick question?

Have you just landed in a large silver saucer-shaped craft?
