Had my Chim500 for about a year and the tyres although only part worn are cracking! off to Le mans soon and was looking to change all 4. Currently have Bridgestones...but struggling with the speed rating on replacements, especially on the front.
Rears 245/45/16
Fronts 205/55/15
Any ideas chaps?

According to the "Bible" the fronts would normally be 225/50/ZR15 with PAS or 205/50/ZR15. So I am not sure why yours are "55".

A lot of owners use Toyo T1-R, I do and would recommend them. Admittedly the fronts are V rated, but that is not an issue for my insurance company - just 'phone to confirm.

Fronts on my old 400 were 225/50/15 (with PAS) and I went for Dunlop SP9000s which were pretty much the only make left with the correct speed rating.

No it isn't. What you refer to as a "bible" is just a collection of stuff by a bloke that has made a mistake.

Check with your insurance co. if worried and then fit the T1-R.

I think that 205/55/15 are correct for non PAS. Profile drop to 50 on PAS cars and width to 225.
Toyo's are excellent, SP9000's are not far off but you can get the correct speed rating.

Just ordered some 245/45 16 Toyos for the rear of my chim to replace my 225/50 16's. Managed to get some T1-S off ebay, they are ZR speed rated unlike the W rated T1R. I wouldn't be too concerned over this however.

Interestingly (or not maybe) my PAS chim has always had 205 on the front when it should by rights have 225 tyres....

I found www.valuetyres.co.uk to be cheapest for Toyo's at £109 fitted for the rears.

+1 I believe, on a '97 450 with PAS. According to the TVR manual these are the correct sizes....

Just to add a bit more confusionsmile, my original reply quoted the Bible, my car which is a 450 ('98) uses 205/55/R15 (V rated now) on the front, with 225/50/ZR16 rear. Which, confusingly is also what is quoted in the Bible!

Those would have been my old ones hehe

I have run Toyo T1R's for 2 years on 17"/18" rims. Very good tyres for all round weather/driving.

I have now gone all serious and put on Toyo R888's and OH MY F-ing GOD! the car has totally transformed! It's manic!!! Have covered 400 miles over the weekend in dry/wet/very wet weather and they have been really predictable with stunning grip. I waited 2 years because i was not brave enough to take the leap. One of the best mods i have done to the car. Just respect the lack of water clearing with standing water.

My Chim500 nonPas has the same & have changed the rears to Toyo T1-Rs, plan to fit the same on the front & phone the Insurance Co. to OK the speed rating but your quoted sizes seem right to me.

No sorry - must have been several derivations - mine are 215x50x15 as per handbook o/e on 500 with PAS. 55 profile for PAS are not correct for a late car
