More problems from my new toy....

After an issue with an engine fan refusing to stop working, even with the engine off, I had another upsetting surprise. A soaking wet boot...!

The water must have come from below, as there were a lot of things in the boot, including an unpacked car cover, that was on the top of all the bits and pieces, and not wet at all. Also the area that was wet was only the centre of the boot, and not the sides that are a bit higher. This means that the water could not have dripped from there..

The car was driven in the rain for a couple of hours, and kept outside since Friday.

Anyone had a similar issue, or could think where the water could have come from??

Common problem - have you tried checking the two little drain holes in the recessed rim around the top of the boot - you should be able to find them just by the side of the boot hinges - they are only a couple of mm's in diameter and block very easily so the water builds up and comes over the rim at the most obvious point - hope this helps

Interesting... There are no such holes in my Tuscan!! :-)

After drying out the carpet, I was so buffled with it, that I took a huge bucket of water and threw it over the boot. I discovered that all the rear lights (indicators, reverse light, fog light) are not properly sealed, and the water comes in, ending up at the bottom of the boot in the centre. This is something that some good quality sealant should sort out.

While I was trying to figure out the boot water problem, I discovered I have a serious leak from the windscreen wiper fluid tank.. Dont have the slightest clue how to get to that..

The fun never stops..!! :0)

Welcome to TVR owne........

OOOPPPS Sorry, already mentioned that.
TBH, buying any TVR is a decision of the heart, not the head. There will be great driving days ahead, sorry it's got off to a bad start for you.

Stick with it.

TADTS! Silicone will become your friend. the lights on my Tam were not sealed and it leaked. I have spent the last 6 months fixing leaks, we are now fully water tight!!

Washer bottle is easy. take off the bonnet, remove the service hatch to the NSF lights cluster, and stick your arm in. The bottle is just a bracket that it slides down onto, so just take ut the spout section and lift it up and out, motor power just clips off and so does the pipe. HTH

My girlfriend is surprised with my patience, and the fact that I spent so much money on a car that will keep needing more money to be spent on it.. And time.. But as you said, it was the heart and not the head that wanted it..! :-)

Got the silicone sealant from Halfords today, also got some glue as I ripped the fog light out trying to take the cover off.. Hope to sort it out by the weekend..
