Haven't seen rocknrolla. I haven't been much of a rush, I'm tired of Guy Ritchie's geezer movies.
But Body of Lies and Taken. Neither are perfect.
Taken is fairly straight forward two dimensional one man war/revenge movie, but its fairly tight, and well done which raises it above your fairly run of the mill straight to dvd.
Body of Lies, navel gazing at americas middle east war on terror, not one of Ridley Scott's best, but he doesn't do a bad movie, they are always good to look at. Crowe in serious fat mode, Di Caprio in serious beard mode, lacks clarity, and a strong narrative, I can't recall the plot, but interesting film none the less. Crowe moves his pawns around the board, Di Caprio goes native. Mark Strong does his arab impression, and is the best thing in it.
Different films. As much as it lacks depth, I think Taken is a better Saturday night popcorn fodder.
