It's a question that came from Nolar Dog's thread - quite a few people asked "do you feel normal now?", "are you happier now you are normal?" etc. So, what is normal in the big sense?

It's a huge question, is normal being like everyone else in your street, the so called "common wo/man?" If you have no interest in the things society pours out for our general consumption(telly, sports, stuff, TKMaxx....) are you no longer normal?

I have always felt out "of the normal" but is that because I don't come across many people like me or am I just a weirdo?

Off you go, apologies to the grammar police if the " and the ? are the wrong way around, I'm not sure which is normal wobble

No-one is normal. Life would become very beige if there was such a thing.

6 billion people on the planet and not one of us is the same, no-one is normal.

Normal suggests you judge someone by a set of standards, if you do that then its a bit sad and pathetic.

Normal, is about plus or minus 15% of the average.

That's politically correct claptrap in my opinion. The point is that everyone has their own standards and everyone uses their own judgment to make decisions. So, I judge everything by own standards in order to discern what is reasonable. That's how the world works.

No, not at all. Bigotry is where you don't listen to other people's opinions when considering your own. At the end of the day, you make your judgment according to your own sense of right and wrong. There's nothing wrong with that.

I think it will be the punctuation police who will be giving you a pull! And possibly the grammar police for a false call out!

I guess nobody thinks they are normal but to try to qualify it you'd have to define a few things that most people are or do.

So if you are
hetro,
employed or looking for employment,
vote for one of the mainstream parties,
never been jailed,
never been on Big Brother,
have or expect you will one day have kids,
live on a street where the other houses are similar to yours,
see a few other cars like yours most days,
haven't got a gimp in the basement

then you are probably normal!

Is 'Normality' not just a state of mind though?

If you are a mass murderer, you might think killing people on a daily basis is 'normal'. It's only normal in your mind, the rest of society may have another opinion.

So, then the question becomes, are you different from 'reasonable expectation'.. e.g It is a perfectly reasonable stance to not like Football, even though millions of others do like it.

Walking down the street in pink underwear with a tea cosy on your head and singing Nessun Dorma is probably not a 'reasonable expectation' for most people! So at that point...you are waaaaay from normal!!
