Thinking of my stomach as usual as usual.

I just wondered if anyone had tried the new restaurant overlooking the start/finish line and if so, is it any good? I am sure it is expensive but it would be very enjoyable to have a meal whilst watching the race. I have tried looking for details on the LM website without success.

Any tales, good or bad, would be very interesting......

It seems to be very exclusive indeed.

Obviously so. It looked rather good, I quite liked the idea of watching the cars fly past whilst tucking in to grilled lobster and a nice bottle of Chablais.

We use that room for the Classic every two years. There is a lovely balcony and you can watch the starts and the race in air conditioned comfort! The start of the GT40 race taken from there:-

Edit: Well, I assume it is the same place unless they've opened a restaurant over the pits that is

Sorry, I should perhaps have referred to it as the start/finish straight. I am talking about the new restaurant at the end of the village "square", just to the north of the pit exit. I think it replaced the old welcome bar.

It is a private room belonging to the county council. As you look at the circuit entrance there is a passage over the top and it is the room to the right of that. A great place to be but don't expect us to relinquish it for you lotrofl

We used to dine in the old Welcome for years Sat lunchtime pre-race. We did try the new one last year - was a little pricey, but good food and pleasant atmosphere - the bonus though was that as you left, you got a pass that meant you could head upstairs to the bar/balcony area on top - think it opened up later though without having to have a meal.

Fancy splashing out a bit on this - anyone have a number for the restaurant to make a reservation?

Is this the restaurant in the village next to where the big screen was last year?
