Hi a bit Paypal advise folks if you may.

I sold an item for 80.00 on 3rd March 09.

Goods were recieved by customer within 48hrs and they sent me an email saying how grateful they were, item was excellent etc etc.

They then requested me to post them an invoice so the goods were in reciept to their business. All well and good. She was happy so was I.

Then out the blue last Friday PayPal sent me an email saying that there was "unauthorised" payment out of their account meaning either I hadn't sent the goods (I had), the goods were damaged or not as described (they weren't) or I frauduently took the money (...you can guess).

I knew this was rubbish so trawled back through emails and sent a polite email asking why this had occured. Thinking mad husband not knowing for example.

Still on reply.

I did everything PayPal asked in sending evidence etc but they are yet to reply. And I cant seem to be able to ring them.

In the old guilty until proven innocent PayPal have taken the money out my account and as there was not 80 quid in the account sent me an email saying I owe them money or I will get interest (accrued 6p in a day).

I am furious. How can they do this.

Got hold of the messers home number from an email and trying to ring but wont pick up.

What can I do. I would be prepared to put myself out big time to seek justice. 80 quid is a lot to me but its the principle.

Any tips?

Thanks smile

use the dublin office UK accounts number, i had some problems with refunds after my ebay account was hacked, they were very helpful in sorting things out

+353 14369001

cheaper than the 08, and you should get a real person quicker

Do you mean YOUR account?

The buyer can't take it out; only you or Paypal can do that.

Are you sure it relates to the sale or is a spoof?

PayPal have removed 80 quid from my account as the buyer of my item requested it through their credit card company.

OK, that's a chargeback and you have a dishonest buyer. I had two last year and they seem to be poping up all over the place. Get the goods, complain, money back. Ching. Then they leave -FB saying the good were rubbish, you can't retaliate, they look honest, you look dishonest. Well done Paypal rolleyes

Still no response from PayPal nor the customer in question.

Where do I go from here? I have all the proof needed. I want my 80 quid back!

Can I take to small claims?

Indeed. Thoroughly braindead move on their part in not allowing genuine people to leave warnings about scammers...

As you have mails from the buyer, I would mail them back and advise them that you will be reporting them for fraud. That should get it sorted.

I am absolutely fuming! Dispute still not resolved, and the "buyer" of my goods wont reply to my mail.

PayPal sent me an email today saying that a month on (almost) they are now looking into it - but have charged me approx a tenner for the pleasure due to some credit card company fee that it is passing onto me.

What do I do from here?

Think I am going to send a letter to the person involved stating (as mentioned before) I will report them for fraud unless I get full compensation by a given date.

Or should I just sit tight and trust PayPal?

Tell them you still have their emails supporting safe delivery and their satisfaction and you are contacting the police as your local station has an officer who specialises in fraud on fleabay.

No, I keep hearing about Paypal siding with buyers on exactly this scam. It's about time Paypal were made to consider their options.

Well in that case I am tempted, but not sure I can be bothered with the hassle and feel I would get nowhere. Not the right attitude though I know

Tell them you are passing the emails stating the goods were received complete with all headers to the police with a view to pressing charges for fraud/deception/theft or whatever.

And here's the twist, instead of waiting to see if that works and they back down, actually do it, get the boot in.

I hear Watchdog are interested in this type of thing.

I vaguely know one of the producers and she was telling me they actively look for stories where lots of people get drawn in on the same issue and redress is almost impossible. I'd try them.

I sold a Porsche CD player to German dude, it took a while to get there and he made a "not received" claim with paypal. Stereo arrives, he leaves positive feedback and they still refund him...................

A light-hearted thread with highlighting a serious problem:
