No doubt this willbe moved.

But, what do you all know about libya. Been asked to go work out there for 3 months.
Is it safe or am I likely to be killed with pictures all over the net.

Cheers.

Brother has had a few Libyan students staying as long term lodgers and everyone of them has said the country is lovely and its nothing like what we have been lead to believe in the UK/US press. We were invited over for a week to stay with his longest term lodger (he was here over a year) and am pondering taking the offer up in the autumn and booking a flight. I think it may be a great place to visit in the near future. Apprently has some of the best beaches in North Africa too biggrin

I worked there in the early 90's really enjoyed it, made some great Libyan friends. Easier to get there now than it was for us as we went in & out through Tunisia which is the pits....
I travelled a fair bit out to Benghazi & various other places, some of which was on Libyan Arab Airlines eek

I stayed in the Abusetta which is just down the road from the Marina & by the racecourse. I also stayed in the various hotels at different times.

Lots happening there and potentially, very lucrative. Due to visit later in the year.

The guy who does our translation is Libyan and helping us into the market. PM me if you need anything.

Thanks for the offer.
I'll be off to Tripoli if that means much to anyone, I know it the capital and seems pretty nice.

Just after general info really.

No drinking tho, I may finally get rid of this sodding beer gut.
