After a few months out (Jan onwards) and going through the sheer hell that is the Job center, I now have secured a contracting job starting tomorrow smile

Its not what I want to do and is just tiding me over for the moment until the banking industry gets back on its feet or I leave the country.

But I now need to get the suit out, iron the shirts, get a shave and get up at a reasonable time for a change.

Part of me is scared as its been so long since I have worked properly and part of me is thinking... amazing it pays for my bathroom, kitchen and holiday to asia.

So now I resign the fact im no longer a bloke of leisure.... roll on tomorrow

woohoo

Excellent!

Been 2 months out for me so far.

Pros - Lots of free time & getting up whenever.
Cons - No money and the jobcentre.

My findings are:

Pros
Money coming in.
No more savings lost
No more job center
No more being a recluse due to all mates working and me studying at home
Decent pay

Cons
Data monkey
Very boring work

My luck will be that the swiss job im after will come in next week and then im stuck between letting someone i know (hes a friend) down and leaving to go out of the country for triple the pay.

Congratulations! I've been out for just over 6 months now and I have the joy (most of the time!) of looking after my 16-month old daughter while the wife goes out to work.

I really want it to be other way around VERY soon, much as I love spending time with my daughter.

Congratulations mate.

At least somebody has a found work, I'm still looking but engineering seems to be picking up a little.

I am starting to worry about how I will cope when I do eventually have to get up in the morning again.

My List of unemployment pro's/con's

Pro's:
No forced wake up
Time to build trak car
Time to build BBQ
Time to clear garage
Bills paid by insurnce company
Lots of sympathy

Con's:
No money - ipso facto - no women
Having to live at home - ipso facto - no women
Having to go to the fking JobCentre Plus

Now in my new place of work and by god its early.... never coming in with the boss again, just cause he had a meeting!!

Posting this off the smart phone as not wanting to get bked on my first day but since noone is in... hey hoe!!

Think my body and mind are going to resent me for 1-2 weeks until they get used to the early mornings and using your brain again....

Hello mate,

Congrats on the job. I've got 4 days left at the bank before sitting at home for a while!
How long were you at home for?
My mrs was working last Bank holiday Monday....I was bored by 11:30. Plwenty of DIT to be getting on with, but the thought of spending months at home is doing me in.

Good luck with the job.
