I live in a large block of quite nice flats (21 floors, about 300 flats). Last night my neighbour decided to have a party with loud music that went on until 5:30am! I didn't do anything at the time as to be quite honest it would have been pointless. But if it happens again, is there anyone i should call? is it a police matter? or council? Would it be worth finding out if its rented and making a complaint to the landlord?

Thanks

Have yourself a party until 5.30am tonight!

Seriously, if its a one off then forget about it. I'm sure you'll be wanting a party at some point.
If its a regular thing then have a word - its probably effecting other people too and a little consideration (after midnight say) wouldn't go a miss especially in a block of flats.

I'd try having a chat with her. If you go and contact people like her landlord without first talking to her you'll piss her off, alienate her and make an enemy of your neighbour.

IMO as long as it;s a 1 off, it should jest be tolerated.
OR, make friends, so you get an invite next time?

Yeah sorry about that. Should have told you neighbour biggrin

I've got a small gathering tonight, about 50 or 60 of my very closest chums, a smattering of strippers and a big bowl of coke. Only fair to warn you smile

Go get a hotel room for the night.

Leave your stereo on repeat with the sttest cd you own in it.

pop a note through the door saying this will happen everytime.

Actually, I know someone who used to get revenge on his neighbours by playing very, very loud drum n bass.

Perhaps you should just have some church friends round one evening...

PS I don't think anyone should have late parties, one-off or not. It's just being selfish and inconsiderate. Ah, this is New Labour Britain, I forgot. At least chavs with their bass bins and Novas don't tend to loiter in one spot - unless you live in McDonalds drive-throughs you shouldn't find it a problem.

ETA: obviously, late night silent parties are fine. tongue out

I don't mind people having parties. They just need to finish at a reasonable time! 2am i would be fine with, but this one went on all night!

Would have been fair to at least warn you. But 5am is excessive. Probably best to leave it be first time, if its regular then time for revenge. Well a quiet word would probably be better. Unless they're deaf, you'd probably have to speak a little louder then.

A party is not a party if it finishes at 2. Are you a lightweight?

Are you that socially retarded that you have to ask advice on how to deal with someone who has had a loud party once? Christ on a bike.

It's obvious, abduct 'em, find a field and burn 'em at the fking stake whilst dancing naked around the flames.

If this is going on every night, you've cause for complaint. The occasional loud party, on a Saturday night isn't a problem, imho.

It is when you have to start work at 6am Sunday morning.

Nip it in the bud now as it will more than likely get more frequent and much worse. To be honest a party until 5.30am with a lot of noise to disturb neighbours isn't on.
