Hi all, my S is currently getting re-commissioned after not much use in 6 years by the previous owner. After getting all negative because I thought I'd bought a pup, I'm feeling rather chuffed as a number of specialists have told me it is the best chassis they have seen and the car is in really good nick. But I don't know what has come over me recently, perhaps the fact that it has been away from me for 2 weeks with another 4 to go or maybe the front page of Sprint that I received this morning (wow!) or the fact I'm getting Gaz Shocks - but I think I really want to turn it into a super fast road car with track aspirations. I mean, I also want to put an old style number plate on it as I think it will look great with the white bodywork and maybe take part in some 'events'...

What I'm trying to say is, I hate the seats. I've never felt comfortable in the S. It's not helped by the fact I broke my back on a motorbike a couple of years ago and certain positions gnaw at me more than others but I'm certain the seat back is too short to support me properly - stops in the middle of my shoulder blades. I wouldn't say I'm that tall - 6'1" (mildly shorter since accident laugh) I really want some bucket race seats and obviously will need them if I get into the sprints etc. But I don't know what will fit or if it will look ridiculous - the inside is biscuit oatmeal coloured and I've seen no seat colours to complement that. I know some have XJS or other TVR seats but I'm not too keen for them. I love the look of those Vixens and Taimars with modern race seats. Forgive me for I fear I may have sinned?

I've replaced the driver's seat in mine with a Cobra Monarco. None of the available colours would match the magnolia trim so had it trimmed in white vinyl and then I sprayed it with vinylkote to match. At the time it looked pretty good, although several years and 100K miles later most of the colour has come off and the seat is looking quite worn. This is a steel frame seat with a steel plate at the bottom and another plate behind the back. It is bolted to the chassis, has minimal padding and with my suspension setup it should be very uncomfortable. However, the flat back seems to suit me very well and it's comfortable even on long journeys. I do suggest trying before you commit though, because a flat backrest might not be comfortable for you. (I'm 6'4 by the way.)
