Hi, please can this thread be left in the lounge?

I purchased a Macbook from a forum and bank transfered the money, the guy was a well known member of the forum and had been a regular poster for years, now he has disappeared and I have no Macbook.

I purchased a bike engine paying via paypal and it has arrived with broken crankcasings, however I have emails assuring that they are all ok. I am getting no response on this one either.

How to proceed?

Thanks for the link,

I wonder if I can get my bank to get me the full details of the other account holder?

very much doubt it, it's hard enough getting them to repeat the details of your own account these days without being interrogated about the colour of your pets eyes. Data protection act brick wall I fear.

Paypal probably won't do st, so assuming you used a credit card, start a chargeback.

I presume you've tried to contact him direct? How long since the deal was done? Any chance he's away on business or holiday?

I've used paypal to get money back twice recently, they were actually very good for me.

OP you can start a claim with paypal to get your money back, they give 3 weeks for the seller to respond then escalate the claim and you get your money back.

Paypal is working out ok, I'm very confident that one will be sorted.

Its the bank transfer one I am bothered about it was a lot of money for a nearly new Macbook.
