I need to remove the bumper of my 03 plate cooper S this weekend. Anyone got any pointers to make the job easier or is it fairly straight forward?

Cheers,

Ed.

Fairly straight forward, just take you time and have a blanket there to lie the bumper on when you take it off so you don't scratch it.

Just work your way around the edges, probably best to start from the bottom so that it doesn't bend and flex as you unfasten it.

Not sure if the MCS has the bolts in the wheel arch like my GP, but those were the hardest ones to find

You need to have some very short Phillips screw drivers, unless you can jack the front of the car up.

There is one bolt in each of the wheel arches, infront of the tyre, undo these (they screw into long, fragile, pieces of plastic when the bumper comes off. Then you need to undo (i think) 5 screws that are under the bumper, these are plastic, and are vertical.

At the point it should be loose. You then need to undo the bolts running along the top of the bumper, facing into the bonnet, I think there are 4.

The bumper will still be held on with some clips, so its just to wobble it off. Obviously don't yank it off, test it and ensure I/you haven't missed any screws! You pull the bottom forward a bit then lift it up
