Right, We've all been forgotten about! A PH meet is arranged and they7 do it miles away from the North (Ie Scotland and the Border counties of England!

So, all us northern readers need to get together.
I'm willing to do some research, keep everyone informed etc! But, I don't do much pleasure driving, so I don't know any good pubs, roads, etc!

We need Ideas on Dates, Times, and Places. We also need an Idea as where everyone is, try and get somewhere in the 'middle'!!

As the weather is completely piss-poor just now, I'm thinking middle-end march, beginning april, let the weather get slightly better, But the School holiday hits at the end of march!!

Ideas Anyone??

Cheers
Stuart!!

Stuart, it will still be snowing in April. How about late May - they'll have run out of salt by then...

When I said Northern Reader is was talking about Northern UK! Northern England and Scotland, you know, the bit at the top of the M6 that everyone in England conveniently forgets about!!

Had a couple of suggestions by e-mail from a couple of other Scots readers, but those locations would be no good for N England people!

If we can get an Idea of where the interested parties are then finding somewhere thats is good for everyone or at least the majority can begin. Trouble is, If it's a Scotland and Northern England Meet, some people will have to travel a long way!!

Falkirk has been mentioned, (England - Scotland Battle, The english will return to kick some ass again!) The borders would be an ideal place, it's almost in the middle! Carlisle is too far west, people from the east have to travel across country, not so bad for England, just jump on the A66, but travelling from Fife would take about 5 hours!

Anymore suggestions, seconds??

Well there's good roads & pubs around Cumbria or North Yorkshire (a lot of TVR's in Harrogate too).

I live in Manchester so a run up to the lakes would be Ideal. Out of term time we could meet up on the university car park in Ambleside for instance.

Further North there's always places like Moffat just off the M74 (I think) but it isn't as picturesque (& they talk funny )

I relise Cumbria isn't so handy for people from the east of Scotland but I'm not going to Grimsby!

Count me in BTW

Well if you're serious about Falkirk, we have a pub with a large car park to the west of the town, any Pistonheads welcome at any time, but I can't help thinking that it's a bit too far North for the English mob - there must be somewhere in the Borders that's not camera infested and has some good roads around it.... count me in wherever....

Falkirk was mentioned, it's good for just about everyone in Scotland, but as you said, not much good for the English! Sorry, people coming up from England (I'm English but Falkirk is perfect from where I am!)

Anyone got any other Ideas??

How about some Ideas on Dates! If we said sometime in May/June, but obviously not Le Mans Weekend! Or... maybe... if we said Sunday 16th. If the pub has Sky we can watch the end of the race, watch the Bentley boys jump all over Audi!!!
Just an Idea!
Apart from Dates and Location (Not very important factors! ) what about a time! 3 maybe a tad late, depending on the sort of distances people have to travel, but If we're meeting on the 16th then how much of the end would we want to see? 2, 3 hours??

On the other hand, the Tuscans are heading up to Knockhill in May (If I remember correctly). What about a meet at Knockhill! Head out to a pub after the racing, grab a pint and a bag of crisps!!!

According the PH Calender (One in the Members Section) The GT's are meeting in April, could meet up then! (I thought the GT's were staying with the Powertour this year! Maybe I'm wrong).

I juat throwing some ideas around at the mo! It's a good one for a discussion anyway!

Like I said, I'm happy to put in some research hours, do the odd recce here and there!!

Keep em coming!

Cheers
Stuart!

Right,

Race Meets

Powetour -
Knockhill - 11th/12th May!
Croft - 25th/26th May!

Touring Cars -
Kockhill - 10th/11th August!
Croft - 13th/14th July!

I reckon, if it was to be at a race meet, one of the Powertour meets would be our best bet! Cheaper too!

Stuart, Have sent you email (in case you don't look!) with map showing Knockhill and brilliant pub/restaurant/small hotel 10 miles away. Best beef pie in Scotland.

Goddammit man, I'm so hungry just thinking about it I'll have to eat the carpet...

Hi folks,

I'd be up for that depending on date and location.
Knockhill is OK for me (TVRCC meet at Powmill just down the road), although its not brilliant for the N of England.
Alternative would be somewhere Jedburgh/Coldstream direction (get your Geodesy first)?

This thread went a bit quiet!

Right,

We have 2 places up for a vote just now! (Anymore ideas welcome)

Falkirk - Pub and a look at the new canal lift.
Knockhill - Powertour! Good racing, good company and "The best beef pie in Scotland"

I've been looking at the geographical area that will be brought together. It's upwards of 200miles from our member furthest north (known to me anyway) to Penrith. I suggest (just a suggestion muind) that the northern english have there own get together just now, and maybe later in the year we can all have a Huge gathering at a suitable location around the borders! But trying to bring people from up north, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Central belt and N. England, it would be hard to find a location to suit all!! People from Anywhere are of course very welcome to join us all! Ted, would I be right in thinking that you would join us if we met at the Powertour.

Lets put it to the vote then :-

Knockhill! Powertour.
Falkirk!

Say where you would rather meet. I know most people including myself don't mind where. We have a date for knockhill 11th/12th May. If Falkirk is chosen a suitable date can be arranged!!
