So, this dent in the front room door was made by a wasp:

Well, OK, not actually made by a wasp, but made by my slightly girly reaction to a wasp entering the room. This b'stard came through the window like a flippin' Stuka. I made a run for the kitchen and grabbed the "151 Fly & Wasp Killer". Now this stuff usually takes these buggers down with one shot. Not this one, however. My liberal application of insect nerve gas only served to piss him off even more and he made a bee-line (or rather wasp-line) straight for me.

My subsequent panic and (over) reaction caused a violent elbow/door interface scenario. Hence the dent.

So, Polyfilla and a lick of paint?

Look, I don't want this turning into another "I can't start a fire" thread. I panicked, when faced by a vicious killer wasp and had a slight accident.

Sensible advice only, please.

Had one of these bastids come through my (open) french doors today, it eyed me up while I sat their with the fly swat and it decided it wasn't going to win this fight and buzzed back out into the garden.

Long handle so that you don't have to get too close. thumbup

Also helped a trapped bee today by letting it crawl onto the swat and set it free with a quick wave out the window. On the other side the wasp wouldn't have been allowed to live mad

if it was a plasterboard wall I'd say stuff it with newspaper and smooth over with lots of polyfilla, not sure if that'll work on the wooden door, looks like a cheap-o hollow thingie, no offence intended. £20 in B&Q ? get yourself a new one and get planing.

That would likely do more damage to the door, though.

I don't think I'm getting across how threatening this thing was. Apologies in advance for mixing metric and imperial measurements, but the wasp was a foot long, with a two meter wingspan. And great big sharp fangs.

It was also spitting deadly poisonous hairy barbs at me, at the speed of light.

I kid you not, this thing was lethal.

Where's my mummy? I want my mummy.

My Dad and I once did battle with one of these (It's a Wood wasp):

We heard this big bloody thing and then saw the size of the sting eek and bravely gave chase, eventually clubbing the beast into submission with handy tennis rackets.

Curiosity overcame my Dad and he went in to do some research on this behemoth...only to find to that they're completely harmless.

I have to say we both felt very guilty, although...have you seen the size of that stinger?!? They punch through bark with that to kill grubs inside apparently. We weren't taking any chances!
