Best driving game on PS3?!

Quick consesus of the PH gaming massive.

Having only got a PS3 recently and foolishly getting rid of my 360 I am starting to miss Forza 2.

I am getting fed up of waiting for GT5, should I just buy the prologue or is there anything better?

Thanks in advance for any opinions/ideas.

Prologue is the best sim-type racer there is at the moment on the PS3, although I wouldn't expect the depth you had in Forza. If you like arcade-style racers then I hear that Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is really good.

You can pick a copy of Prologue up really cheaply now, its more than worth it IMO. Obviously its not something that you will be playing on for months, but its the best we have for now. It does take a while to complete the challenges though.

It's the dogs - so much more fun than GT5P IMHO

I miss my 360 too, the PS3 is terrible for driving games right now. Forza 2 is considerably better than GT5P in my view, also Race Driver Grid is pretty awful. I hope the full GT5 is better by some margin or I'm afraid my PS3 will become nothing but a fancy bluray player and I'll go back to a 360 for games. Alot of the problem I feel is partly down to the controller. The 360 controller being much nicer for racing games as the triggers feel more egonomic, they seem more responsive also?

Not for about another year apparently!

F1 by Codemasters in spring 2010.

Dirt 2 - was to be released soon, but has disappeared off Codemasters website now.

GT5 - it's too late already, time for GT6! Hopefully it'll only be 2 years late.


I think there must be serious issues with developing driving games on PS3.....as said above, the choice is poor, and not improving.

Although you may well have had it for the 360, Burnout Paradise is fantastic for Arcade fun.

For Sim style racing Ferrari Challenge is supposed to be good with a wheel, even if the graphics aren't great. although I haven't tried it myself

It's actually ok with a pad using buttons to steer, but dreadful with a wheel in my (unhappy) experience of it.

Supercar challenge is due out on the 19th of June. Info here

It's based on an improved Ferrari challenge engine. Could be a good stop gap until GT5.

it was pretty decent actually

For overstepping the mark and producing a Scalextric style experience download the F1 2009 demo from the game store, with all the aids turned on just hold the accelerator down and it does everything, corners, brakes, the whole lot! With it turned off it's almost fun though.

Not a game to buy though.
