No, not Bryan Adams, RYAN ADAMS, but whenever I mention him to anyone, that's the response I get, 'oh, you mean Bryan Adams?', NO!

The John Mayer thread got me thinking of US artists that are supremely talented, but don't seem to get much interest in the UK, and for me Ryan Adams comes into that category.

Over 10 albums released, grammy awards, with some great classic tracks in there (think New York New York). His albums rarely contain weak tracks, his songwriting, vocals and musicianship seems as strong as ever - why isn't he better known in the UK.

Has anyone ever seen him play live? If so is he as good as I think he is!

Not a massive fan but I have heard of him. I bought his cover of Wonderwall after finding out Noel Gallagher said was better than the Oasis version.

Ridiculously talented - Gold, Heartbreaker, & Love is Hell 1 & 2 are fantastic albums - (not that any of his others are bad -which is all the more surprising as he is so prolific.)

I love Ryan Adams, I think his lastest album(?), Easy Tiger was great. Wonderwall is also stunning.

Hmmm, interesting to hear a few thumbs up for the Love is Hell albums, those I don't have yet.

My personal favourite is Gold, so many great tracks, however Demolition is a close second, 'Dear Chicago' is such a great song, I can't listen to it just the once, and always end up repeating it 3 or 4 times!

I'm a fan too, if you like Ryan's work - then check out Jesse Malin, he played with him, and Ryan produced his first album.

1. Cos the public haven't got a clue, and mostly buy what the mainstream radio/tv stations (over)play...
2. Cos the trendy kids, with skinny jeans and bad hair, buy regardless of talent, whatever NME/XFM say is the next big thing.

All IMO of course..

Jesse Malin yes I'd also add Josh Ritter and Joshua Radin - all very much in the Ryan Adams vein

I love Ryan Adams. My favourite album is Cold Roses. Anyone out there got any Whiskeytown albums? Strangers Almananc is fab.

I've seen him live a few times. He is amazing live but takes it very seriously and can get pissed off (to the point of storming off the stage) if there are any hecklers in the audience or if his equipment isn't just right.

I'm a big Whiskeytown fan, Strangers Almanac is one of my favourite records, but for some reason I never explored his solo stuff.

BIG Ryan Adams fan. Cold Roses is an album I can't help but listen to all the way every few weeks.

There's strong rumours that RA has quit music to write novels instead.

If you are on Facebook, become a "fan" of his and he posts up new songs, etc every few weeks or so. Looks like he is still writing and recording.

Yep, quite a big fan here.

Saw him once, and he was massively plastered, seriously disappointing show.

Heartbreaker has some good tunes on it, Come Pick Me Up and Oh My Sweet Carolina.

Got someone on the stereo just now who sounds a bit like him, a guy called Ryan Bingham. Heard one of his songs on ER the other week and bought the album this morning. Worth a listen.

I started off listening to Whiskeytown too, but then got into his solo stuff.

Saw him at Birmingham Academy a few years ago and he couldn't be arsed - I nearly left half way through. Very disappointing indeed.

Then took a chance and saw him play in London in 2007 and he was fantastic, managed to catch him in Leeds & B'ham last year and he didn't disappoint then either.

Anyone see him in London Palladium last night? Three hour acoustic of his huge back catalogue. Fantastic!
