The little fella at the rear on one side. Anyone know how the column fixes into the cover? Is it just a pressed interference fit or bonded/threaded whatever? Reason I ask is mine doesn't have one (earlier 'TVR' cast covers) and I suspect this might account for some of my smoke issue as the rest of the later breathing gubbins is present so it's prolly pulling oil by when it would be drawing in air... (sorry HRG, hope you've recovered hehe )

See Rimmers list the cap and the filter media but not the mushroom itself, it appears to be steel so a separate part from the ally cover?

They just press in, but I have never seen them sold as a separate part so I treat them very carefully wink Would certainly be interested if anyone found a source for them.

You also need to make sure all the screw holes for cable retainers are closed up as well IMHO if you desire vacuum in the crankcase.

I took the plastic cap off mine to clean the foam
and it didn't seem to have a hole in it!
Looks like when the rocker covers were painted
they did the breather too!

I got all my V8 rocker cover bits from them... http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/rimmer/rover/v8engine/...

Just noticed you refered to Rimmers... thinking back I rang them and told them the diagram missed the stem component...they had it , it was a mistake in the catagoue also... no problem supplying it. It just requires a gentle tap with a hammer.

Ok, the tin mushroom is just an interference fit in the cover (as stated); mine twisted out the old cover pretty easily. The restrictor is a brass bung (bit like a carb jet) with a teeny drilling through it (mine was blocked)...anyone know whether there might be any scavenging advantage/disadvantage to opening it up a tad? That bung will poke out the top BTW
