hi mate

does it drive ok? but just idle lumpy?

check for the obvious air leaks around the air intake..!
also take it to a bmw specialist garage with diagnostics to see if any fault codes come up.

Ive just sorted a lumpy idle issue with my 98' m3 evo. mine needed a new AFM and new exhaust solenoids on the vanos. It was a bad solder joint from new and its burned out over time and come loose...

My old e30M3 had isle issues more noticable when cold. Also high hydrocarbons. that indicated an air leak. intake gaskets were replaced and all was fine again
