Hello,

Can some one please change the gold on these rims to black.

Leave the chrome as is, just make the gold go away, and come back as black

Please

Photoshop is the tool for this, and he's marked the photos and changed the colour. Takes forever to master.

I did this yesterday but my host site was knackered. I've changed to another site now so here it is.

Selective colour pallet - Yellow channel, set to absolute- slider to black. Do this a few times til the yellow/gold is very dark. then goto saturation and desat' yellow channel. This way keeps the reflections dark too. 5 min PS job smile. 2 fking hours trying to upload it to a knackered bked host site frown

Paint Shop Pro X2

  • Duplicate background and add an adjustment layer grouped with the duplicate.
  • Use the adjustment layer to fully desaturate and reduce lightness to about 20-30%.
  • Mask the adjusted layer and paint on the mask to expose only the spokes and inner gold bits
Repeat the process, reducing the lightness to about 50-60% and use the mask to expose only the reflected gold

It's the painting of the mask that was a bit Q&D, hence the slightly naff edges.

ETA although Focussed's method is probably simpler in this case.

Interesting to note that mucking about with HLS directly on the image highlights the JPEG artifacts, but doing the same thing with an adjustment layer doesn't.

Hmmm scratchchin
