R129 Body Part Required - Sill Jacking cover
Discussion
I'm looking for a replacement Sill jacking cover, (little cover on bottom of sill which i assume you remove to jack the car up) that sits behind the front wheel, back of the wing area? I have an SL60 AMG, so not sure if it is AMG bodykit dependant upon that? Any idea whether:
1) I can source one off any other R129 (sills being the same?)
2) What the part number is, so I can orderfrom merc it if not?
Any help appreciated

If it is a late model (two vents in each front wing) with the later (soft and curvy) AMG body kit, front left is HWA1296980530 and front right is HWA1296980630. You may also need the short piece of plastic string called a hanging strip which connects the cover to the body to stop it getting lost: A2016980214. The cover will need to be painted.
If it is an early model (three vents in each front wing) with the early (chunky and square) body kit, front left is HWA1296980130 and front right is HWA1296980330. The hanging strip is the same, A2016980214. Again, the cover will need painting.
If it is a late model without a body kit, the front cover (both sides are the same) is A1296982730. The hanging strip is the same as before, A2016980214. The cover will require painting.
If it is an early model without a body kit, the front cover (both sides) is A1296980030. The hanging strip is the same, A2016980214. Will need painting. If you have an early car with the two tone paint job, be aware that the cover will require painting in the second specified colour to match the bumbers and Sacco panels, not the bodywork.
Hope this helps.

They should be quite stiff to remove and refit: unlikely to be shook or blown off (mine stay on at top speed!). Perhaps some heavy grease or other sticky gunk around the fittings may keep it in place a bit better. However, the hanging strip will stop them disappearing even if they come loose: it is a thin strip of plastic with an arrow head at each end which is pushed at one end through a hole in the cover and at the other end through a hole in the sill trim.
