Got a bit of a problem and would appreciate some suggestions.

My V8s appears to have developed an intermittent problem since I put it back on the road after the winter break. It starts and drives perfectly, but every now and then it develops a misfire. I stop turn key off and immediately restart the car and all’s well, no misfire and runs perfectly again, and will do for many miles. I did approx 90 miles last Sunday and the problem surfaced twice, each time starting straight away and off we went again.

I think it could be fuel related as opposed to ignition system, main reason being that the ignition system was all replaced last summer.

The car ran all last year with no problems at all it only appears to be since the season start.

Help

Pete

Don't rule out the new ignition bits Pete.
If you have the old bits and they worked it could be worth a bit of substitution to see if the problem goes away.

When I had a problem that went away when I turned the engine off and restarted it it turned out to be fuel related.
The tank was very rusty inside and clogged up the fuel line.

Mine's an S2 and I'm not sure how different the V8 is but on mine the line went straight from the tank to the pump ( no filter in betwen). There is a small thimble like strainer in the pump ~ this was full of rust.
I cured it by coating the inside of the tank.

Hope you get sorted soon
