Suspension advice

Can someone give me a bit of a crash course on suspension mods for E36. Whilst i am not a complete numpty, i am not familiar with expressions like coil overs and the like. Can someone enlighten me. I come from a period where suspension consisted of leaf springs and macpherson struts! Cheers

I renewed my suspemsion last year M3 Evo, x4 oem shocks, x4 standard BMW OEM springs,poly bushes, rear top mounts & uprated (thicker) & adjustable antiroll bars. Parts only came to around £1000, they are not cheap cars to maintain. Coilovers only really needed for track work, they have an adjustable collar that the spring sits on so you can adjust the ride height & generally are a lot firmer ride than normal shocks/springs. You will notice an amazing difference if yours is still on its original suspension/bushes & you renew it + 4 wheel alignment.
