I think its a great appointment for Ipswich, Sunderland were struggling in the Championship when he took over and he took them straight up.
As for former ManU players being crap managers?

Shouldn't you balance your argument up by listing former Man Utd players who haven't made good managers in the same time frame as your list above ?As for former ManU players being crap managers?

Incey, Great at Macclesfield and MK Dons not given chance at Blackburn
Robson took Boro' up and to two cup finals, less successful at WBA and Sheffield but how are thise three teams doing now, in Europe Challenging for honours??

Being a lifelong tractor boy, I'm a bit surpirsed at the appointment of Keano.
My money was on Alan Curbishley as apparently he is mates with Marcus Evans and has also just bought a house locally to Ipswich.
However, I'm happy at Keano as he took Sunderland from bottom spot to winning the Championship in less than a season.

My money was on Alan Curbishley as apparently he is mates with Marcus Evans and has also just bought a house locally to Ipswich.

)Keano is a good appointment though, didn't do badly, but the money thing worries me. He did have a substantial budget at Sunderland, and I doubt Evans will have quite the same attitude to throwing money at him.
Time will tell, but i'm happy. I hope he's given a free reign and a reasonable budget so he can't have any excuses.
I'm genuinely excited. this could be one of the best things to happen to us in a long time.
A good mate of mine is the brother of one of the players (first team striker), so I get quite a lot of 'inside' info from the dressing room. He says that Jim lost the dressing room a while ago when we were playing badly because he flew into a rage and was offering players 'outside' at half time. The respect for him went.
I'm hoping that being another firey Irishman the same thing doesn't happen.

bear in mind he was also slated by the Sunderland dressing room for his management style - it's more suited on the pitch and than from the dug out IMO
