As the title says really! Since I have had the car (approx 3 months) I have occasionally noticed a slight electrical burning smell coming from the drivers side exterior of the car! It appears to be coming from under the car rather than from under the bonnet, if that makes sense! Have looked under the car for anything stuck to the exhaust etc but cant find anything obvious.
Any advice would be greatfully received.
Regards
Ian.

How have you driven it before the smell emerges?

Could it be a burning clutch smell?

Perhaps an oil leak - have you kept an eye on the level?

Plastic bag trapped by the exhaust?

I've also heard people complaining of an overheating Automatic Transfer Case on some beamers. There is an electric motor that operates the transfer case. Possibly this motor is burning out ?

Does it have an eggy tinge to it?, Cats can smell if the car hasn't had a run for a while and then they get really hot when you go for a longish drive?. Other things to check are clutch (what's your mileage) or binding caliper.
